The Clothing Brand That Donates 50% of Its Profits To UK Animal Sanctuaries

Defender of Animals is a clothing line with a difference. With their signature logo being instantly recognisable from afar, along with their other eye catching designs sure to make people stop and think, each product has a clear and unapologetic vegan message that is advocating for animal rights. The brand offers an impressive range of apparel ranging from tee shirts, hoodies and joggers to tote bags, tank tops and more.

With a focus on ethical and sustainable production the carbon neutral brand is committed to reducing emissions by employing low-waste production methods such as powering their factories using renewable energy and sending all orders in plastic free packaging on a made to order basis. Founder of Defender Of Animals Darrell Sawczuk told Plant Based Directory the brand supports the vegan movement by empowering animal rights activists to be brave and bold with their everyday apparel. All of the designs for each collection are created by Designer and Illustrator @mortalstray with each drop distinctly thought provoking and completely unique.

Since launching the label back in April 2020, Defender of Animals Clothing has grown into something that Darrell said he is super proud of. The nonprofit also supports two UK Animal Sanctuaries, Pear Tree Farm in Somerset and Springwood Sanctuary in Wales, and donates 50% of their profits to help provide shelter, food and water for all of the animals who reside at each sanctuary. To date, Defender of Animals has donated around £1,200 to vegan sanctuaries.

Darrell from Horsham in West Sussex explains what led him to start the business. He told Plant Based Directory: "Like a lot of people, when I went vegan, I wanted to scream and shout about the horrors of animal agriculture, but sometimes this approach can push people away so I wanted to take a more subtle approach to advocacy and creating a vegan clothing brand seemed like the perfect thing to do. That way you can wear your activism and people will be exposed to the vegan message without you even saying a word."
